The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.



The tunnel is located through the Nahal-Refaim-Emek-Motza path. The southern entrance is within Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is approximately half a mile away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

Jerusalem was once a tourist attraction due to its rich past. Elkin who, through his ministry and the Jerusalem Municipality led the project, stated that the Jerusalem Municipality's ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels annually in the development all aspects Jerusalem's visitors and in the design and operation of innovative attractions, ventures , and other attractions that link the rich history of Jerusalem to its future". Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. Work was performed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

It will also be paved throughout the various neighborhoods. This will encourage cycling and promote green transportation in the capital.

Road construction, installation and testing of safety and electrical systems are just some of the ongoing efforts to ensure that the tunnel is secure throughout the year.

The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to unique recreation sites such as the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo and aquarium as well as the historic natural springs in Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
